About

The unveiling of Winnipeg’s second, permanent ghost sign light installation produced by light artist Craig Winslow and ghost sign researcher Matt Cohen. The installation uses a series of gobo projectors to highlight two layers of fading ads on the west side of 165 McDermot Avenue. One for household goods retailer Porter and Company and the other for Galpern Candy Manufacturers’ Milady Chocolates brand. The projection will run from sunset to midnight every night, and is expected to be a fixture of the Exchange District until 2030.

This is the second permanent light installation to launch in the area. In 2022, Winslow and Cohen unveiled the world’s first permanent ghost sign projection at the corner of King and Bannatyne. You can learn more about the projection and explore corporate histories, product shots and archival photos at StobartSign.com.

As Adobe Creative Resident (2016-2017) he brought to life Light Capsules, an ongoing project reviving faded hand-painted ads across the world. His first permanent exhibition 'Brilliant!' launched in Las Vegas in 2018 at The Neon Museum. In Summer 2019, he worked with Tim Burton on his exhibition 'Lost Vegas' at The Neon Museum. You can explore more of his work at craigwinslow.com.
