GOOD ONE

US, 2024. Directed by India Donaldson. 89 min. R.

Starring: Lily Collias, Sumaya Bouhbal, Valentine Black

In India Donaldson's insightful, piercing debut, 17-year-old Sam embarks on a three-day backpacking trip in the Catskills with her dad, Chris and his oldest friend, Matt. As the two men quickly settle into a gently quarrelsome brotherly dynamic, airing long-held grievances, Sam, wise beyond her years, attempts to mediate. But when lines are crossed and Sam's trust is betrayed, tensions reach a fever pitch, as Sam struggles with her dad's emotional limitations and experiences the universal moment when the parental bond is tested.

“A low-key, superbly acted, very well-directed indie.” Claudia Puig, FilmWeek

“The movie smoothly shifts from gentle comedy to emotional punch, modest in a way that sneaks up on you in the end.” Alissa Wilkinson, New York Times

The Film House is proud to host 8 pay-what-you-can film screenings in downtown St. Catharines as part of Culture Days.

FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre

The FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre (PAC) is located in downtown St. Catharines, Ontario at the corner of St. Paul and Carlilse Streets on the shared traditional lands of the Haudenosaunee, Anishinaabe, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, the Neutral Peoples and many other Indigenous people from across Turtle Island.

The PAC aims to engage people in exceptional live arts experiences, and to enrich the lives of citizens of St. Catharines and the Niagara region, while providing a world class venue for local, national and international artists and community arts organizations to flourish.

Designed by Diamond Schmitt Architects, our 95,000 square foot cultural complex opened in November 2015 and spurred an artistic, cultural and economic renaissance in downtown St. Catharines. The PAC is comprised of four state-of-the-art performance venues (Partridge Hall, Robertson Theatre, Recital Hall, and The Film House) and one outdoor space (The Mann Raceway Plaza – our backyard) which host international, national and local artists alongside community members and organizations.

Since opening, thePAC has hosted over 5,000 events and welcomed over 800,000 visitors. We showcase and host music, dance, theatre, film, comedy, speakers, meetings and community gatherings ranging from 120-person capacity to 780.

Our annual presentation season consists of over 70 annual curated events of the highest quality and variety with a base of close to 600 dedicated annual members.
