About

Join Jocelyn McIntosh at the Albion Community Centre for a creative and cultural experience exploring Métis bead-like painting. In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn how to use paint to mimic the intricate patterns of traditional Métis beadwork—often referred to as Métis Dot Art. Together, we’ll explore the rich history and symbolism behind these vibrant floral designs, which are a proud expression of Métis identity. We’ll also take time to discuss Australian Aboriginal dot art, drawing connections between global Indigenous art forms and their deep cultural roots.

For 10+ with adult supervision

Registration is required. Register via the City of Maple Ridge webpage.

Jocelyn McIntosh

Local Métis artist and educator Jocelyn McIntosh began her collaboration with the Albion Community Centre in 2023, leading a Bead Art class as part of Culture Days. She returned in 2024 to share her knowledge through a Tea Blending and Plant Wisdom workshop. The Albion Community Centre proudly displays the Grandmother Moon Quilt in the Social Heart. This beautiful piece was created in collaboration with Louise Ducharme and Wenda McIntosh.
