About

Jurors Walk

Sunday, September 21, 2:00 - 4:00 pm

Join 2025 Jurors, Joanne Poluch and Ian McLean with a walk around the gallery to listen and learn about what impressed them when selecting the over 70+ works of art on exhibit by the 65+ artists juried into the 29th Annual Headwaters Arts Juried Art Show & Sale. As an artist or art collector it is a chance to ask questions and learn more about the art world.

Joanne Poluch is the owner of Remarque Art Consulting in Guelph. Joanne holds an honours degree in Art History from the University of Guelph and an art marketing diploma from Sotheby’s Institute of New York.

Based in Bright’s Grove, Ontario, Ian McLean studied at the University of Guelph and has been the recipient of multiple Ontario Arts Council grants.

Organizer

Headwaters Arts

Headwaters Arts exists to bring together artists and supporters to promote the development, appreciation, and enjoyment of all arts in the Hills of Headwaters Region (Caledon, Dufferin County, Orangeville & Erin)

Vision: Headwaters Arts wants to be able to state with confidence that the Hills of Headwaters region is a widely recognized centre for artistic excellence; a location of choice for artists seeking a nurturing, collaborative community. And that the region is a home to residents and businesses that value support and participate in the arts as well as a renowned destination for tourists seeking high quality and fun arts experiences. We fulfill our mandate by providing artists of all ages and at all stages of their career with greater exposure, sales, networking opportunities, professional development and education. We strive to create opportunities for the community-at-large to enjoy and participate in the arts. Headwaters Arts looks to the future by nurturing the next generation of artists and art lovers. We initiate collaborative marketing efforts to better promote both within and outside our community art produced in the Hills of Headwaters. Some of the ways we do this is by mounting an annual multi-site arts Festival, implementing the Headwaters Arts Youth Scholarship, providing a monthly art exhibitions at the Headwaters Arts Gallery at the Alton Mill, as well as programming open access multi-level discussion workshops with arts professionals.

The very first Headwaters Arts Festival (HAF) began 29 years ago where it showcased 40+ arts events over a two-week period. Led by a board of directors and artists, HAF continued to grow sponsorships, build strong partnerships with artists across all genres and receive support from local businesses. In 2008, HAF transformed into Headwaters Arts, a not-for profit, volunteer based organization that operates an artist-run, 810 sq. ft Headwaters Arts Gallery, year round, in the Alton Mill Arts Centre located in the Village of Alton, in Caledon, Ontario. Headwaters Arts has been in a proud partnership with the Alton Mill Development Inc. for over 20 years, as a signing partner in the Rural Economic Development Program funding to establish what is now the Alton Mill Arts Centre. The practise of reciprocity continues, and we are stronger together.
