About

Join Edward Fu-Chen Juan and Urban Bounty in a celebration and unveiling of the legacy artwork he created as part of his residency with Urban Bounty (formerly Richmond Food Security Society).

Edward will share his experiences working with Urban Bounty and community members in making hand-made paper, inks from local plant materials and growing indigenous and endemic dye plants.

His project "Art Cultivation from Nature" aimed to create a more sustainable and environmental art practice that connects with traditional techniques in printmaking while raising awareness of sustainable urban food systems.

There will be an artist demonstration and hands-on opportunity with the public.

Organizer

Richmond Public Art Program

The Richmond Public Art Program sparks community participation in the building of our public spaces; offers public access to ideas generated by contemporary art; encourages citizens to take pride in public cultural expression; and creates a forum to address relevant themes and issues.

The benefits of public art are numerous. It has the power to energize our public spaces, arouse our thinking and transform the places where we live, work, and play into more welcoming and beautiful environments that invite interaction. Public art can make strangers talk, children ask questions and calm a hurried life. Beyond its enriching personal benefits, public art is a true symbol of a city’s maturity.
