About

SHARE AIR together.

We will be hosting an event with Kelowna & District SHARE Society. Welcoming individuals to come be enthusiastically themselves. To create, share and celebrate our individuality within a collective under the principle tagline of AIR - Access, Inclusion and Resilience. The goal is to build community and spread kindness.

Join us Saturday, September 23, 2023, 11:00 am - 5:00 pm at 581 Gaston Avenue, Kelowna BC in the Syilx Territory of the Okanagan. There will be the unveiling of a painted mural along with the creation of a collaborative yarn mural, as a part of the Kelowna and District SHARE Society’: First Annual SHARE Fest. We will supply yarn, initial installation, guidance, and stewardship through the craft of knot tying.

We will have people grow skills they can apply to the care of one another, along with themselves. The tying of yarn is a beautiful coping mechanism for anxiety and depression, it is a way to work and exist beside someone without comparisons or judgement, and the product of the event will be a testament to our value as individuals within a community. Come SHARE AIR together.

Organizer

Cameron Gelderman - BC Culture Days Ambassador

Oh hey there, I am Cam, a human being / creative. Catch me using yarn and threads to translate internal thoughts into visual stimulants. Process art has become my primary coping mechanism for depression and anxiety, and the direction of my vision is to continue weaving until I claim the title of greatest artist in the world - whilst inviting and engaging others to do so as well. The form of creation stems from process art. Beginning and just going, breaking through the inhibitions, the worry, the self doubt and entering into the flow state. Using the movement of the hands to communicate the chaos of the mind. I work to bring this medium forward to others by inviting others to work on projects, along with empowering others to do so effectively on their own.

In short, I am a person just doing the best I can, and I often feel my best when I am tying yarn, so I do it a bunch and tell as many people I can about it.
