This event will include a discussion with Nigerian Author & Halton Resident, Oby Aligwekwe. Her latest Book 'The Place Beyond Her Dreams' is now an Indie Excellence Book Award Winner.

Oby Aligwekwe is the award winning author of Nfudu, Hazel House and The Place Beyond Her Dreams. A talented writer, Oby is also an inspirational speaker and a chartered accountant. She supports her community through her charity Éclat Beginnings.

• Organized the Oakville Nigeria Culture Days 2018 - A Rich Celebration of the Nigerian Culture.

• Co-organized a #BringBackOurGirls rally in Toronto

• Worked with First Nations Children in an Attawapiskat elementary school

• Providing ongoing supplies to people who identify as homeless in the GTA

• Worked with Syrian Refugees in Hamilton and People (IDPs) displaced by the Boko Haram Terrorist group in Nigeria

• Taught Financial Literacy to youth in the GTA

• We have an ongoing sponsorship of children in IDP camps in Nigeria through elementary and high school

• Participant – Halton Equity and Diversity Roundtable

• Collaborated with the Canadian Black Chamber Of Commerce (CBCC) to ensure youth participation in The Economic Club of Canada & The Global Institute for Conscious Economics’ Conversation with Barack Obama
