About
The Annual Lumsden Scarecrow Festival September 28, 2024, will attract a few thousand visitors to the small town located in the QuAppelle Valley. More then 100 public scarecrow displays throughout the community.
The day starts out with a pancake breakfast (9 am) in front of the Heritage Home; music and a petting zoo. The Lumsden Historical Site (10 am) hosts a car show, building tours and the best chili in town. Artist Alley 910 am) Nugent Studio. Firefighter Beer Garden with Burgers/Hot Dogs (11 am) Downtown. Street Market (noon) on James Street (downtown). Free Horse Wagon Rides (1 pm). Pie and Refreshments at the Dew Drop In (noon). Lion's Park Family Fun Zone (noon) playground, petting zoo, bouncy castle, face painting and emergency services interactive display. Lion's Park Animated Storytime (6 pm) followed by a Lantern Parade, Lion's Park Outdoor Movie (8 pm), Festival Finale Firework Display to Music (following the movie).

The Town of Lumsden is the lead on this event, however, the 8 partner groups help with the great success every year. The Lumsden Arts Council provides some unique creative activities that really compliment the festival. They host scarecrow and lantern making workshops leading up to the festival. The facilitate the animated storytime in the park as well as lead the Lantern parade.
