About
In recognition of the Burnaby Village Museum, join us for talks on a range of topics shared by museum staff and partners. Community members are invited to bring and ask questions of the speakers during these interactive online sessions. Presented in partnership by Burnaby Village Museum and Burnaby Public Library.
These events are free, online events but require access to internet and either Zoom or Facebook applications.

Stepping over the Barrier: Expanding Diversity at the Burnaby Village Museum

Join museum professionals as they discuss what it takes to bring more diverse stories into the Burnaby Village Museum. Explore the history of discriminatory practices and museological trends as the Museum highlights its recent projects to ensure all cultural groups are represented on its 10-acre village site.
Ups and Downs of Conserving the C.W. Parker Carousel

With thousands of people riding the Carousel every year, it is a wonder this 110-year-old fairground favourite keeps on turning. In the off-season, many dedicated hours go into the careful repair and maintenance of the Carousel. From cogs and gears to paints and jewels, this session covers the ups and downs of Carousel conservation.
50 Years of Blacksmithing at the Burnaby Village Museum
Thursday September 29th at 7:00-8:30pm

The blacksmith shop at Burnaby Village Museum has drawn excited visitors since the museum first opened. But exactly what took place in the shop and by whom has changed over the years, as has the basic message we convey to the public. Join us for an informative historical exploration of the blacksmith shop through images and commentary from two of our long-standing museum blacksmiths.
