About

HeartSpace Clay studio is a place where the heart reclaims its joy through art. People come to learn about clay and stay for the community.

HeartSpace Clay studio will host an open house for interested citizens to tour and get a feel for what working with clay is about. Visitors can sample some treats from the candy bar while absorbing the atmosphere of the studio. For those who would like a hands on experience a project will be available, it is called Art Abandonment – Hearts for Humanity.

This activity builds on an initiative already in motion, Art Abandonment Prince Albert. The artist started Art Abandonment in Prince Albert, a number of years ago. The local project is based on a book of the same name written by a husband and wife artist team in British Columbia. The premise of art abandonment is to leave art, hidden in plain sight, around the community for strangers to find, simply to spread joy. A local printer prints and donates pink tags to attach to the abandoned art, to identify the PA Art Abandonment project.

Visitors to HeartSpace Clay studio will be able to paint and decorate small 3” clay hearts, attach an art abandonment card and abandon the art in their neighborhood. Enough blank hearts will be made so that participants can make a couple hearts each.

HeartSpace studio contributes to the heartbeat in the north by nurturing makers and by supporting the community with initiatives like Art Abandonment. The artist is always looking for ways to support her community and would be proud to contribute to 2024 Culture Days.
