About

Participants will view and discuss an award-winning short film as a springboard to learning the basics of screenwriting: how to create strong protagonists and suspenseful narratives with thematic resonance, and how to format scripts to the film industry standards.

Instructor: Laurie Lam is a writer, story analyst, and teacher. She has an MFA in Screenwriting from the American Film Institute and has taught at the University of Winnipeg and the Winnipeg Film Group. She has analyzed scripts for the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles and for film companies across Canada.

This workshop is a collaboration between Inter Arts Matrix, Cambridge Art Galleries, and Idea Exchange, funded by operating grants from the City of Kitchener, City of Waterloo, and the City of Cambridge.

This program is delivered through Zoom.
