About

Join us for a free Self-Guided Tour of our 125-plus-year-old heritage home/museum during Culture Days the week of Oct. 4 to Oct. 7, 2022.

Our self-guided tours will help you better understand the intriguing story of this elusive branch of the Caetani family, descendants of Italian royalty.

Through interpretive signage, including QR codes, you can discover the story of why Leone Caetani left his royal titles and family fortune behind to move to Vernon with his new family in 1921.

Learn how, after his death, Leone's partner, Ofelia, daughter, Sveva, and the family's private secretary, Miss Jüül, went into seclusion in the house for 25 years.

Understand what happened to Sveva after she was 'imprisoned' in her own home and how she eventually emerged as a teacher, mentor, and prolific artist.

View the incredible Caetani collection of artwork, artifacts and memorabilia, including haute couture from the Roaring 20s, family photographs, and home movies!

Visit our art gallery to see a segment of Sveva Caetani’s fascinating Recapitulation series of original large-scale watercolour paintings that tell her life story through the guise of Dante's Divine Comedy.

Due to space, self-guided tours are limited to 20 guests at one time. Drop-in times for self-guided tours during Culture Days take place from Tuesday, Oct. 4 to Friday, Oct. 7, 2022 between 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Donations at the door are appreciated.
