About

Friday, September 27th at 6:30 pm the Free Flow Dance Theatre Company will present an open rehearsal at the Free Flow Dance Centre followed by an in-studio showing of some of our company repertoire. The audience will be invited to view and participate in some of the work that is done behind the scenes as the dancers warm up and review choreographic materials. This open rehearsal will provide the participants with some personal insight into what exactly goes on behind the scenes when creating a professional dance production and strengthen their relationship to the movement arts.

Attendees will be invited to join the dance company members in the studio for a short 10-minute warm-up which will consist of a couple of basic dance warm-up exercises such as knee bends with side stretches and brushes and points for warming up the feet. Then they will also get the chance to learn a few of the signature moves from our choreographic movement vocabulary for the piece that we will be presenting. It is always wonderful for our audience members to get a chance to try some of the actual movement they will see on stage as it affords them a new perspective on dance and the mastery behind its artistry.

After the participatory experience, everyone will then be treated to a 15-30 minute performance by the professional dance company followed by a short question and answer period.

Free Flow Dance Theatre is a professional contemporary dance company that endeavours to advance dance as an accessible art form that can be experienced, appreciated and enjoyed by everyone.

The company was founded in 1995 and became a charitable organization in 2008. It employs professional and emerging dance artists, musicians, costumers and visual artists to work on a variety of projects including annual performances for International Dance Day, The Back Alley Antics site-specific program and the Works in Progress New Dance Series.

Our very popular free community dance workshop program allows us to bring the love of dance to people who may not otherwise experience it. We provide a variety of types of free dance workshops to people of all ages from Youth to Seniors including both able-bodied and disabled persons!
