About

Writing Barefoot is a whole-body, kinesthetic workshop experience facilitated by Tricia Friesen Reed. You won't have to actually go barefoot, but we will be using all of our senses to explore how our environment affects our work. Additionally, we will be discussing how to deepen meaning and purpose in our writing so it can better serve ourselves and our audience.

The first part of this workshop is an outdoor, self-guided hike at the Ecological Ravine Preserve*. Participants will be given an envelope of literary prompts they can use for their own reflection while they walk. The indoor portion begins at 3 pm in the Ravine Room for those interested in further discussion and writing. Writers can participate in just the hike or both portions as they feel comfortable.

Writing Barefoot is for participants of all writing levels, interests and backgrounds. This workshop is geared toward adults but accompanied children are welcome. The Ravine Room is limited to 20 participants due to Covid-19 procedures.

Dress for the weather and bring a pen, paper, water bottle and a face mask. (We will wear face masks to walk inside the Gallagher Centre, but will be able to remove them once we are settled into our spots in the Ravine Room.)

*Please meet at the small parking lot on the west side of the Gallagher centre where the Eco-Ravine trails can be accessed for the self-guided hike. Text 306-641-6900 if you are having trouble finding the gathering spot.
