Join us in welcoming Uche Uwadinachi for our Culture Days Kickoff. Uche is a linguist with a passion for poetry. His first work titled 'scar in the heart of pain' a poetry collection was published in 2009. He is known worldwide for spoken word poetry and has won multiple poetry performance awards.

The Markham Arts Council was originally started with a mission to serve and enhance our community’s well being by providing arts and cultural education and awareness while supporting the work and development of visual, literary and performing artists. Over the years, the Arts Council has worked on collaborative projects and initiatives by providing emerging and established artists with opportunities to grow and learn. Our aim is to build a stronger, more diverse yet unified arts community that encompasses literary arts, experimental art, visual arts, new media, music, dance, performance and dramatic arts.
