About

Many heads make light work as we help you tell your own stories. Our volunteers have the resources at MGS to help you on your genealogical journey. We can assist you with a way to start, where to look & how to continue your research. Your family history will be unique & we will help you with tips & guidelines for a successful way of doing it.

You can have a short resources tour of our library & our experienced genealogists will be available for one-on-one research assistance on a first-come, first-served basis. Maximum of ½ hour time slot per family unit which can be extended depending on demand.

You’re also welcome to bring in a foggy photo & our volunteers can help you use our high-quality scanner & photo enhancing software to improve the image to use in your family history. Bring in a flash drive or buy one at MGS to save it for your use.

You may want to stop in to see some prize packages we've created & take a closer look at these great items to place a bid for our online auction fundraiser.

Kids are welcome, as long as they like a library atmosphere, you're own family history researcher or family techie will help too. Parking is free & there's plenty of restaurant options all around.

Organizer

Manitoba Genealogical Society

We help you tell your own stories. We promote & encourage genealogical research & the writing of family histories. We collect & preserve information, books, manuscripts, and other related material relevant to such genealogical study. We encourage and instruct members in the ethical practices, correct methods, and effective techniques of genealogical research. And we publish information which will further the objectives of the Society.

Our volunteers are available year-round to assist you at our resource centre through membership or day user fee. These local & digital resources are compiled & created according to the value they provide to Manitobans first & expand to all countries for family history research.
