Yorkton Arts Council

The Yorkton Arts Council established in 1966, is a non-profit organization that provides opportunities to engage in the arts through inspiration, education and entertainment. Our vision is to connect our community to the arts thereby enhancing the lives of citizens in our community.

The following programs are offered:

YAC presents concert series offers an incredible range of performances, rich in variety from classic rock to folk, to world and classical music each performance holds promise of an inspiring evening at the Anne Portnuff Theatre, Painted Hand Casino and St. Andrew’s United Church will be entertained, educated and enriched. Performances in schools are presented through the Organization of Saskatchewan Arts Councils, Performing Arts in Schools program.

Sunflower art and craft market is a popular showcase of more than 150 artists, artisans from across Western Canada. Crowds of Sunflower devotees flock to Yorkton’s Gallagher Centre each year, the weekend after Labour Day, for this ultimate shopping experience. Volunteers are encouraged and welcomed.

Community pARTners Gallery, popping up in various locations in our community presents visual arts exhibitions, workshops and interactive art experiences. The Yorkton Arts Council is dedicated to sharing artwork by local, area, and provincial artists including exhibitions curated through the Organization of Saskatchewan Arts Council’s “Arts on the Move” touring program.

Story Slam is a story telling competition offered in partnership with the Yorkton Public Library and the Parkland Writers Alliance. Each session consists of 10 writers presenting their stories. All stories presented must be original and unpublished.
