About

The ArtSpeaks Project kicks off it's Fall Art4Wellness series of free art-as-therapy (non-clinical) Mindful Making workshops on Friday October 22, 1:30-3:30pm at the Sault Museum, downtown Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Sessions are offered free of charge, basic visual arts materials are supplied, and sessions are best suited to adults and older youth (and their supporters) impacted by trauma. Art4Wellness workshops are offered as Drop-Ins and suitable for folks of all (and no) skill levels -- our focus is the offering of a safe space to explore visual art media/processes while expressing oneself/engaging in community.

The ArtSpeaks Project

The ArtSpeaks Project -- building resiliency through arts-based learning since 2017, has evolved into a therapeutic arts program, offering adults and older youth impacted by trauma the opportunity to explore visual art as a means of self-care and community engagement. Housed in the Sault Ste. Marie Museum, the Project runs free, bi-weekly art-making sessions supervised by an art therapist, from Fall to late Spring. Special Projects such as participation in local festivals/community pop-ups and collaborations with complimentary health care practitioners enhance our seasonal offerings. The ArtSpeaks Project is part of the Museum's Art4Health initiative, providing social prescribing programing which has been consistently accessed by a variety of area medical/social services/mental health programs since its inception.
