Truth and Reconciliation
In Partnership with Kijicho Manito Madaouskarini Algonquin First Nation: minowànigozowin / celebrate In the spirit of celebration, reconciliation, and community, the Bancroft Village Playhouse is thrilled to partner with Kijicho Manito Madaouskarini Algonquin First Nation for a thrilling and engaging evening of celebration and song. Minowànigozowin / Celebrate will be a 90 minute celebration featuring the Shawashkong Ikwe Singers, Kichisippi Rini Tewehigan Magoshiwin Thunderbird Drum and the Wolf Pack, as well as traditional dancers and more! The Bancroft Village Playhouse is situated on unceded Algonquin Territory. Tweed & Company Theatre, who operate this building, want to recognize that the Anishinaabeg have been stewards of this land since time immemorial. We are honoured and excited to partner with our friends at Kijicho Manito to bring this performance to life, and to celebrate our local indigenous culture and practices. We hope that all people will feel welcome and alive in the Playhouse, and are excited for this first presentation in what will hopefully be a long and fruitful relationship. Tickets for this performance are all PAY WHAT YOU FEEL, and all proceeds will be donated to the Kijicho Manito Madaouskarini Algonquin First Nation to support their essential programs and activities. *If you require wheelchair or fully accessible seating please call the box office at 613-478-6060.
