About

Pictures at an Exhibition is one of Flin Flon's favourite Culture Days events. Composer and multi-instrumental musician Mark Kolt spent a decade of his life improvising for the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and Winnipeg Contemporary Dancers. During this 10,000 hour experience he became exceptionally atuned and skilled at interpreting what he sees before him. In normal times for this event, Mark would be surrounded by art and attendees at our lovely NorVA Centre. Members of the public were invited to select an artwork from the gallery where it was then presented to Mark to interpret musically. That is when the magic would start to happen. It typically becomes a very moving experience for all involved.

This year, due to COVID-19 we are trying something different. We are inviting galleries from throughout the province of Manitoba and individuals from across the country (or further) to send us an artwork that they would like to experience in a very unique way. Time being limited the Flin Flon Arts Council will randomly select the works to be represented musically by Mark. The artwork will be projected for all to see. Please send an image of your artwork of choice to [email protected] by October 15, 2020 or feel free to contact the Arts Council office for more information.
