Part of the Clayton Community Centre Arts Day, celebrate Culture Days with Surrey SPARK Stages at a super fun afternoon all-ages dance party! Come and learn about the rich history and culture of Indigenous powwow dancing. While singing and drumming, Pavel and Juanita will lead participants through the basic steps of a traditional powwow dance where you'll learn about the origins of the dance and the history of the regalia. There will be time to ask questions! Next up, learn to do-si-do with Paul Silveria and Friends for live-music square dancing! Accompanied by fiddle and guitar music, Paul Silveria will teach and call traditional square dances that are suitable for all ages. Guaranteed to SPARK your happy feet! Be sure to bring a water bottle and wear comfortable clothing. Arrive early and join in the rest of the fun as part of the Clayton Community Centre Arts Day. Create dance wearables for the dance party from 1pm-4pm in the visual arts studio. Check out Clayton Community Centre Arts Day listing for more info.
