In 2013, Common Weal Community Arts partnered with artist Chrystene Ells and together they posed the question: Can the lives of seniors living in care facilities be enriched through creative engagement and arts programming? Thus began the Hello in There program, which supports the social participation of seniors through storytelling and memory-sharing arts activities. Everyone has a story to be told. This film features the stories of select seniors who’ve participated in the program and highlights the importance of providing seniors with creative pathways that validate their life experience, connect them to their families and community, and equate to numerous mental and physical health benefits.
