About
Enjoy a number of fun and engaging activities in the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery including...
Faux Stained Glass:
Create a notecard or hanging ornament to play with the light and colours inspired by Hope Forstenzer’s Breaking/Rebirth piece on display in the Voices, an exhibition on Diversity, equity and inclusion. Draw on clear plastic sheets with permanent markers to create faux stained glass. Frame your piece with paper to create a notecard or hanging ornament
Live Glass Torchwork Demonstration with Jen Noakes:
Jen uses a handheld torch to melt the glass to a pliable temperature. Then she uses metal tools to shape the glass into intricate ornaments. See how this age-old technique is being used by a contemporary artist!
Live Clay Artist Demonstration with Eekta Trienekens and Mengchao Wu:
Watch how these local ceramic artists use handbuilding techniques to make functional clay pieces. Eekta Trienekens combines decorative techniques to create playful sculptures and functional pieces while Mengchao Wu uses the wheel to create handcrafted ceramics that are beautifully formed, fun, and functional.

Conversation Tiles – inspired by Voices exhibition:
Help start a conversation about inclusivity by making Conversation Tiles at the Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery. View the exhibition 'Voices', a national exhibition about equity, diversity, and inclusion featuring work by more than 30 artists across Canada. Then decorate a clay tile with a word that would spark a conversation. All languages are welcome. When tiles are kiln finished, visitors to the gallery will be able to pick up a tile and chat about what that word means to them and find an artwork that links to the word on the tile.
