There are two sides to an artist: the cloistered creator and the exhibitionist. We build our stories behind the glass, but true art needs an audience — needs those windows blown wide open. View our artists' bold, fearless and unapologetically unique artwork in daily Instagram and Facebook postings and have your say by "telling this painting's story" in Instagram comments. We are honoured that the show will be juried by Ernestine Tahedl.

The Markham Group of Artists

The Markham Group of Artists (MGA) is a vibrant community of artists that has been collaborating in the Markham area since 1981. MGA includes visual artists from beginners to professionals, who work in a variety of media and styles.

MGA offers an array of workshops and lectures by distinguished artists and curators, and stages a variety of juried and non-juried shows on an annual basis. Artists also participate in bi-monthly art critiques to receive feedback on their work and paint together at the Paint Lounge. MGA holds annual juried shows at the McKay Art Centre of Unionville and collaborates with the City of Markham community, such as creating painting-mosaics for public buildings, and, on occasion, collaborating with the Varley Art Gallery.
