Join local artists Michelle and Jana as we experiment and PRINT IT! The artists will facilitate multiple activity stations where you can collaborate and explore a variety of printmaking tools and techniques. You will also learn how you can use everyday items you may have at home to make beautiful art. At the end of this workshop you will have created multiple printed masterpieces that are ready to frame or add into your other art projects!

The activities are designed in a way to welcome all levels of artistic experience and support collaborative creativity.

HOW TO REGISTER: Advance registration required on EventBrite. Each child requires a dedicated adult companion to participate. The adult is expected to participate, work collaboratively and supervise/assist the child as needed.

EXTRA DETAILS:

- Culture Days workshops are FREE to the public.

- All materials provided. Participants are encouraged to wear clothing conducive to creative messes / bring your own apron.

- Separate workshops are provided for both family-friendly and adult participant groups, please see other listing for adult workshop registration.

- These workshops are generously supported by the City of St. Catharines SCCIP program and the St. Catharines Public Library.

- COVID PROTOCOLS: Distanced work stations and hand sanitizer will be provided, frequent use is encouraged. Instructors will sanitize equipment between users. Please stay home if ill.

Organizer

Michelle Nicholls, Artist and Educator

Michelle Nicholls is an Artist, Educator and Arts Administrator.

She is a practicing visual artist who explores various forms of printmaking, mixed media, painting and book-binding in her work. She is the artisan behind "December Lee Handmade" featuring hand-made vintage inspired art, greeting cards and stationary including hand-bound journals.

Thorough her work as an arts and culture administrator, Michelle is currently developing and delivering large-scale events and festivals for the City of Burlington. In her previous role she was responsible for outreach, special events and marketing for the City of St. Catharines Cultural Services Office (including management of the City’s Culture Days Portfolio). At Rodman Hall Art Centre, she managed and delivered arts education and outreach programs for the community.

She is an experienced educator of all ages (and abilities) with more than 20 years of creating and delivering educational opportunities for Niagara residents in the mediums of: painting, printmaking, drawing, mixed media and sculpture. Michelle holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and is also a graduate of the Visual Arts Honours Program at Brock majoring in Studio Arts.

Michelle is passionate about supporting our local creative community, acting as past board president and instructor for Willow Arts Community, a non-profit that provides free art instruction and mentorship to creatives in Niagara with lived experience of mental health and substance use disorder.
