About
Join us at The Alternator Centre For Contemporary Art as we host the artist and curator of the Members Space exhibition, "A Clog in the Machine". Vancouver based artist Jack Kenna, and curator Asia Jong will be in the space to interact with viewers on Saturday, September 26, the last day of this exhibition. Between 11am and 3pm, they will take questions from guests about the themes, processes, and inspiration behind the work. This will be an opportunity for gallery visitors to learn more about the artwork, the artist and curator, and engage in meaningful discussion.
"A Clog in the Machine" is a body of work that explores isolation, productivity, over- and under-stimulation, and the interruption of ubiquitous systems brought on by the worldwide COVID-19 shutdown. Sprawling collections of derelict antiques, fragments of abandoned poetry on yellowing notebook paper, images sketched with a finger onto a dusty window - Kenna’s work provides an intimate look into domestic spaces and our relationship to the inanimate worlds we build around ourselves against the backdrop of home confinement.
During this event we ask guests to please wear face masks. There will be no more than six (6) people in the space at one time, and social distancing must be practised. The Alternator will also provide hand sanitizer and washrooms are available in the Rotary Centre for the Arts.
