About

Interview a painting? Yes, you can create lovely, descriptive passages by asking a painting to 'speak' to you! Never written poetry or prose before? ...no problem! Let the painting create the words for you. These Waters is an exhibition of works inspired by the waters that surround us in mind, body and soul. Eight Interlake artists have created works in paint, glass, and pottery. The show runs from Sept. 6 through October 29, and during Culture Days includes workshops, demonstrations, and art talks. The show of works by 8 Interlake artists will be the inspiration for Interview a Painting. These Waters will inspire you to continue using visual art to write flowing, melodic poetry and prose. Guided by show artists Rosemary Miguez and Gayle Halliwell, the 90-minute workshop will give you the tools and techniques to continue on a path that leads to deeper understanding yet provides fun and entertainment along the way. Pre-registration is helpful to us.

Organizer

New Iceland Heritage Museum & Independent Artists

NIHM is the premiere museum located in Gimli and partners with organizations and individuals to provide exhibits that extend our understanding of the Icelandic experience, the cultural and natural surroundings of the area, and the science and technology that make our world today.

The independent artists in These Waters are Interlake residents from a variety of cultural and artistic backgrounds that all have one thing in common: the love of Lake Winnipeg.
