About

Sometimes starting as tiny ripples a wave has the capacity to carry us, toss us, crash into us, and engulf us altogether. New Wave is an online exhibit that features the artwork of eight disabled youth artists. Join us for a Virtual Opening & Artist Talk on Sunday October 24th, at 1pm PST in celebration of the final day of BC Culture Days!

Through this online exhibit, the multimedia works of art might start as a tiny ripple, but throughout the months of October, November, and December the online exhibit and its virtual programming will draw you in and show you the strength of the voices of disabled youth.

Participating Artists: Nina Aldewood, Vee CR, Megan Dewar, Taryn Goodwin, Laura Rechwan, Pree Rehal, Midori Ryans and Emily Tironi

The link to the Virtual Gallery Website will be live on October 24th. We will also be announcing various digital events throughout the course of the exhibition, so Stay Tuned to our website at www.kickstartdisability.ca/new-wave

Organizer

Kickstart Disability Arts and Culture

Kickstart Disability Arts & Culture was established in 1998 when a group of disabled artists realized attention to Disability Arts was lacking in Canada's artistic landscape. Our mission is to produce and present works by artists with disabilities and to promote artistic excellence among artists with disabilities working in a variety of disciplines. Our objectives are: to encourage and support artists to create and present authentic interpretations of the disability experience; to provide paid opportunities for the development and advancement of artists with disabilities; and to promote practices that will make the arts more accessible to all members of the Canadian public.
