About

For nearly 30 years, Salmon Arm ROOTSandBLUES has been a summer destination for musicians and music lovers alike. Four nights, six stages, standout evening features and inspiring afternoon workshops solidified ROOTSandBLUES’ spot as a leading B.C. music festival.

The stage was set for the 28th annual festival, and then the pandemic hit. ROOTSandBLUES, run by the non-profit Salmon Arm Folk Music Society, had to pivot.

The team, led by Artistic Director Peter North and Executive Director David Gonella, brought artists into studios to record six hours of high-quality programming broadcast for free online. Over three nights, 20,000 people experienced the magic and tradition of Salmon Arm ROOTSandBLUES in the safety of their own homes.

Now, ROOTSandBLUES is looking to the future: a hybrid model where fans dictate how they interact with the tradition and excitement of ROOTSandBLUES, either at the Salmon Arm Fair Grounds or from the comfort of home.
