Organizer
Sinkunia Community Development Organization
Sinkunia has been operating in Edmonton since November 2009. Our primary focus is to reach immigrant youth and children with their families and help them settle smoothly and thrive well in the Canadian Culture. Over the years we have formed partnerships with organizations like Action for Healthy Community, Mennonite Centre for New Commers as well as Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Compass Centre for Sexual Wellness and many more. For the last three years we have received funding from IRCC through REACH Edmonton Council for our After-School Program. Our other funders have been the City of Edmonton, CIP (Community Initiative Programs) GRANTS and other federal and provincial sources. We have just received our Casino funds that is helping in further programing. In all, Sinkunia has been busy meeting needs through the out of school time, sexual health education, leisure time, youth mentorship and leadership training as well as community building.
