About

Pacific Coast Portraits:

Artists for Conservation (AFC) and Wild Bird Trust of BC have partnered to host the "Pacific Coast Portraits" Art exhibit with local AFC artists. Artwork features local birds, flora and fauna such as Barred Owl, Pacific Great Blue Heron, and Rufous Hummingbird. On display in the Nature House since July 20th, September 29th is the final day to view the work. It is a program of the Artists for Conservation Festival, Sept 26-29 - more info here: https://festival.artistsforconservation.org/

(Proceeds from print sales support the artist (50%), Artists for Conservation (25%), and WBT (25%).

Purple Martin Day at Maplewood Flats:

Join us at 10:30am for tea and bannock, and enjoy the final day of the Pacific Coast Portraits exhibit.

At 11:00 am, Kevin Bell will deliver a presentation on the history of Purple Martins at Maplewood Flats, as well as touch on Field Research procedures during breeding season, and nest box clean out methods.

Starting at 12 noon, interested participants can assist with collecting some of the nest boxes from the mudflats, and join a hands-on workshop to analyze the contents of the nest boxes. It’s FREE but please register so we can ensure proper protective clothing and equipment is on hand. To register for the afternoon workshop, email your name and phone number to Lianne Payne at [email protected]
