About
Thatz Showbiz Theatre Project presents a theatrical workshop/experience specifically designed for youth and adults with disabilities. For 12 years Thatz Showbiz has specialized in creating theatre with youth and adults who are neurodivergent and/or have intellectual disabilities. Using a mixture of adapted movement, music, singing, improv and other theatre techniques, participants will have a fun time learning, exploring, creating and performing together.

Thatz Showbiz theatre Project
Thatz Showbiz is a non-profit organization that for 12 years has been focused on providing theatre education and programming for youth and adults who have been underrepresented on our stages and under served by theatre education. We centre the voices and stories of youth and adults who are neurodivergent and/or have intellectual disabilities. We believe in theatre and theatre is for everyone and can be a tool for transformation, radical accessbility and social change. Some of our signature programs include:
-Creative Development and Discovery - Artists with disabilities, with instructor assistance, work towards mounting a final production that is completely original and written entirely by the participants.
-Musical Theatre Motivation (in partnership with the Down Syndrome Association of York Region) - A one of a kind musical theatre experience enriching the lives of the young artists with disabilities by giving participants of all abilities a creative voice and chance to be heard.
-weekly Drama Programs in partnership with day programs across the GTA. Bringing high quality drama education to day programs culminating in high caliber final performances.
-3 Plays In 30 Days - focused on youth whose stories and life experiences aren't traditionally represented on stage. They are paired up with professional mentors who have similar life experiences and together in a process we call "reverse mentorship" they script, direct, stage, design and perform in their own original work.
