About
***Gallery exhibition POSTPONED. We need more photos! Please continue to send your photos to us, and we will hold this display at a later date ***
Regina Beach has a rich history of being a place of rest and recreation for over 100 years. Much of this history has been captured in photographs: the train that would bring visitors out for the weekend, the dance halls of the ‘20’s and ‘30’s, the very tall old diving platforms, the first cottages and buildings, including teepees and tents. These photos can be found in private homes, restaurants and businesses and at Memorial hall, but there is not one complete collection, nor does it exist in a public place.
Focused on the South Shore area, photographs and artwork will be collected, scanned and printed for permanent display in the library. An exhibition of the pieces will be on display in the Elsie Scherle Gallery on Sunday, 1:00-3:00pm. Volunteers will be on-hand to scan your images from 11:00am-1:00pm on Saturday. And you can submit digital copies of photographs for printing to the library by email: [email protected]. Please include important details of the photograph's location, date, and who is in them. Please contact Krista at the email above or Melissa at [email protected]
