About
Step back in time with the Milton Historical Society in this first installment of a new video series being digitized for the Internet Archive. A Different Time: Milton’s Victoria Park tells the story of one of Milton’s most beloved landmarks, tracing its evolution from the Historic County Courthouse and Jail to today’s Town Hall at the heart of Canada’s fastest-growing community.
Donated by Hugh Foster in 1854, Victoria Park has been a gathering place for over 150 years—home to civic events, public memory, and even darker moments of history. Viewers will discover the park’s many layers: the 1918 German War Trophy, the original Town Bell, a replica of the early Band Stand, and the Cenotaph honouring Milton’s war dead.
Through archival photographs and present-day imagery, storyteller Jim Dills brings Victoria Park’s past and present into conversation—inviting audiences to reflect on how shared spaces preserve community history while continuing to shape Milton’s cultural life today.
