About
A celebration of all things chess! Games begin at 10 a.m. at Hardy Park by the beautiful St. Lawrence River and finished at noon. If it rains, we'll play chess at the library.
Back at the library at 1 p.m. we'll have a special live zoom chat with Canadian chess master Gilbert Perez. A retired doctor who lives in Brandon, Man., Perez was the only Canadian to compete in the 2021 World Chess Championship for People with Disabilities. People with physical, vision or hearing impairments from 44 countries competed online, and he finished 63rd in a field of 249 players. Perez is dedicated to spreading the love of chess for everybody. There will be a Q&A with the audience.
