About

Created in 1919, the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada (HSMBC) illustrates the defining moments that mark Canada’s history through the designation of people, sites, and events of national importance.

Join Parks Canada in unveiling the HSMBC plaque commemorating Richard Pierpoint as a person of national historic significance. At this ceremony open to the public, speakers will highlight the story of Richard Pierpoint, a man whose life experiences illustrate the contributions and hardships of Black Loyalists in Upper-Canada in the late 18th and early 19th century.

Organizer

Parks Canada

Under the National Program of Historical Commemoration, Parks Canada supports the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada in the commemoration of places, persons and events of national historic significance. Together with Canadians we work to share our diverse, complex stories and illustrate many defining moments in Canada's history.
