Directions: The Black Space Symposium is taking places in various venues and institutions in the greater Vancouver area. Each gathering will be focus on a different topic as well as panel, workshop, or artist performance.

The Black Spaces Summit & Symposium is taking place from Sept 21 - 24 2023
The Black Spaces Summit & Symposium unites artists, activists, professionals, and educators within the African Descent community to honour our heritage, inspire the future, and build strong community connections. The symposium invites all participants to explore new approaches and modalities that will inspire all of us to activate, mobilize, and create the change we want to see.
The Black Spaces Summit & Symposium consists of a series of speakers, panels, interviews, live performances, workshops, exhibitions, and community honours. We established the symposium to create opportunities for youth of African Descent to access equipment, education, training, networks, and opportunities. Empowering our community to creatively and economically flourish, building on our unique gifts and perspective from our heritage and cultural experiences.
The 2023 Black Space Summit & Symposium is a conference curated to amplify and promote the African Descent Community, heritage, and culture. This summit will focus on highlighting the depth and diversity of the African Descent community while encouraging the development of practical solutions to pervasive systemic inequities experienced by those living in the margins. We invite you to celebrate the art, culture and heritage of African Descent people and community. The Summit will consist of various in person events and virtual offerings including multiple panel discussions, workshops, and artist performances throughout the Greater Vancouver area.
* ATTENTION: All tickets for The 2023 Black Space Summit and Symposium can be registered online via our Eventbrite page execpt for the opening day events taking place on September 21st, 2023 at The Historic Cultch Theatre . Tickets and registration for the September 21st, 2023 programing which include a film screening of The Black Space Media Produtions Film "The Pace" and New Media: The Rise of AI, Virtual Space and Online representation (Panel) can only be registered and purchased through The Historic Cultch Theatre box office or via there online Platform here
The programming taking place from the 22nd to 24th of September will be free entry or pay-what-you-may-admission. We will have a donation box which will be placed at our info table. All proceed recived form The 2023 Black Space Summit and Symposium will go to supporting local artist and creatives within the African Descent community.
The purpose of The Black Space Summit and Symposium is to create accessible and safe spaces for those living in the magins. We will priotize accessiblity to people of African Descent and thoise in the margins to ensure that all community members interested in attending can. This Summit is a hybrid event all panels will be streamed virtually via a registered online platform. The links to each live stream panel will be given to registered participants the day before the panel via there registered email.

Afro Van Connect society is an arts and cultural collective dedicated to empowering African Descent Youth across the Diaspora. We are a creative capitol platform that offers shared opportunities and resources designed to promote liberating education and sustainability community development. Our core values are to heal our community, create opportunity and educate youth.
We amplify the voices of African Descent youth through conversation, collaboration, art & performance. By establishing a dedicated collective of young vibrant creative minds in our community we have been able to create authentic and practical solutions strengthening our community. It is our intention in the future to increase the visibility of underrepresented people in the African diaspora and encourage strong connections and unity.
