Quesnel and District COmmunity Arts Council

The Quesnel and District Community Arts Council (QDCAC) became an arts organization in 1971 and in November 1973 it was registered as a Non-Profit Society. QDCAC has a renovated office and meeting spaces, and the Art Gallery and gift shop is in the Arts and Recreation Centre.

The mission of QDCAC is to initiate, promote, develop excellence in the arts, engage the community in the arts, develop understanding and support for the arts, culture and heritage in the community. This responsibility is fulfilled through education, communication, coordination and programming of activities and events for the enrichment and engagement of the community.

To foster excellence in the arts and to encourage the community to engage in the arts.

To sponsor, co-sponsor, form partnerships, and coordinate Arts and Cultural events in the community.

To apply for and disburse grants available for artistic excellence and cultural activities in the community.

To act as a facilitator for information on Arts and Cultural Events in the community.

To give bursaries to students who are furthering their education at post-secondary institutions in the arts.

To advocate for the arts at the local, provincial and federal level.

It is QDCAC’s role to promote and grow the arts, to encourage community engagement in and exposure to various art forms and to demonstrate and show appreciation for artistic endeavours, to develop excellence, to be inclusive, to foster the growth of arts in children and youth. Through the grants, partnerships, various events and programming QDCAC endeavours to meet their core values.
