About

The Korean Artists Society of Canada (KASC) is celebrating its 30th annual exhibition. The art exhibition this year is designed as a hybrid event, hosted both in-person and virtually simultaneously. It is also a two-city tour connecting different regions and generations. The first art show takes place at Toronto Papermill Gallery from September 22 through October 3, 2021. The opening reception will be on Thursday, September 23 at 6 pm. RSVP is required to attend the reception. Please send an email to [email protected] for RSVP. The exhibition hours at Papermill will be from 11 am to 4 pm from Wednesday to Sunday. It will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

The other exhibition will be located at the Galerie L’Onyx, 6400 Boulevard Monk, Montreal QC H4E 3H9. It runs from October 6 till October 17, 2021, with the opening reception scheduled on October 6 at 6 pm. RSVP is required to attend the reception. Please send an email to [email protected] for RSVP. The exhibition hours at the Gallery l'Onyx will be from 12 pm at noon to 6 pm from Tuesday to Sunday. It will be closed on Mondays.

A total of 65 artists will participate in the exhibition tour at Toronto and Montréal including 48 KASC members, 9 Québécois artists, and 3 Korean artists.

The theme of the exhibition is “Home”, which symbolizes how after going through this difficult pandemic, individuals returned to their homes, the first and starting point, to look back on themselves and prepare for a new leap forward. We believe that the pain experienced not only by the artists but also by the viewers will resonate more than ever before.

Organizer

Korean Artists Society of Canada

Korean Artists Society of Canada (KASC) has been one of the largest Korean Canadian artist groups in North America for 40 years since 1980. We are about 70 artists who engage in various artistic activities and have about 20 sponsors.

Every year, KASC supports various Korean communities in the form of regular exhibitions, small group exhibitions, solo exhibitions, art tours, art seminars, and children's art contest adjudications. We also support and conduct art classes online. Through online seminars such as art therapy, photography lectures, and Korean art seminars, we introduce Korean culture to various Canadians and have meaningful seminars in a multi-ethnic society.
