About

We will hold two one hour workshops; one for youth over the age of 12 (1:00 - 2:00 pm) and one for adults 18 years of age and up (3:15 - 4:15 pm). The workshop registration will be limited to 20 participants per time slot due to equipment availability. These workshops will be conducted by a team of volunteers from Regina Hibiki Taiko using our lesson strategies specifically developed for beginners. We are also able to adjust the degree of difficulty depending on the participants’ capabilities. The workshops will provide participants with a hands on opportunity to learn how to play the Taiko drum and to enjoy playing music together. NO PRIOR MUSIC EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED & WE WILL PROVIDE EVERYTHING NEEDED FOR THE WORKSHOP!

In addition to these workshops RHT will perform for 45 minutes (from 2:15 to 3:00 pm) to showcase the art of Taiko drumming. This performance is open to the general public (not only workshop participants) up to the venue capacity of 170 people.

We will have a fundraiser booth to sell Japanese goods. As per last year’s experience, we will manage the registration through Eventbrite (for free of charge).
