About

See Lily Rickels' traffic signal box wrap "Strawberry Harvest" on display at Sixth Line and Threshing Mill in Oakville.

Lily offers the following description of her work:

"This piece celebrates the heritage of Oakville’s strawberry industry, referencing the strawberry growing and basket making that began in the mid 1800s. Living in Oakville we are connected to the same land that generations of people have lived and created on. Strawberries here symbolize abundance and togetherness, reminding us that we should cherish the time we have with our loved ones. I have fond memories of making jam in august with my mom that I drew on when creating this piece. The forms are influenced by motifs in quilting, with a bold color palette to represent abundance."
