About

Heritage Weavers and Spinners Guild of Calgary will be doing interactive demonstrations with spinning wheels and looms—the tools they use to create cloth from scratch! They will explain how these work and invite you to explore the possibilities.

Guild members will also be on-hand to discuss the 40 Mile Coat project, and how they collaboratively used materials sourced within a 40-mile radius of the Calgary Ring Road. The 40 Mile Coat exemplifies the guild’s mandate “to provide a forum for creative inspiration and shared knowledge in weaving, spinning and related fibre-arts”, and will on display until September 30.

The Heritage Weavers and Spinners began in 1978 and continue to be actively involved in the Calgary fibre arts community. We offer weaving, spinning, dyeing and related fibre art workshops and classes throughout the year, and hold an annual fall sale.
