About

Visit the current exhibition in the Midland Cultural Centre Gallery of Indigenous Art - "Gaagige-Bimaadiziwin, Everlasting Life" an exhibition created by Clayton Samuel King.

This Exhibition is open to public visits from July 11, 2022-October 1, 2022, Monday to Friday from 10am-4pm.

The MCC operates a ground floor gallery presenting Indigenous Art. With programming and oversight by an Indigenous member majority committee, the MCC will operate the gallery focusing on work by artists and artisans of the Beausoleil First Nation and members of the Georgian Bay Métis community. The inclusive space will also show works by the broader community of Canadian Indigenous artists and artisans.

"Gaagige-Bimaadiziwin explores the balance of belief, tradition, and historical knowledge of the Anishinaabek of Central Ontario, and is influenced by the everlasting life of ancestral teachings from the past, present, and the hereafter." – Clayton Samuel King

The work in this exhibition celebrates the Anishinaabek calendar year through the 13 cycles of grandmother moon, the doodemag (clans) of the Anishinaabek of Southern Georgian Bay, and places of interest that have inspired the artist throughout his career.
