About

Join Phoenix Chamber Choir for an open rehearsal, workshop, and virtual choir collaboration. This one hour zoom rehearsal will take you through an introduction to what is a virtual choir and how to run/participate in an online rehearsal, learning a piece of music with Phoenix Artistic Director, Nicholle Andrews, a short presentation on how to record yourself for a virtual choir, and some time for questions and answers.

Participants will learn to sing a new Phoenix Parody of the beloved Disney classic "Part of Your World", rewritten by our very own Nicholle Andrews, that brings to life the emotions we're all feeling as we enter this new era of making music mid pandemic:

"We want to be where the people are

We wanna to sing,

wanna sing together

We miss our friends in our

(Whad'ya call 'it?) oh - choir"

By the end of the hour you will be ready to record your own video for inclusion* in our virtual choir project!

The final project will be premiered at the first Phoenix concert of the season: "Gathering Together" on Saturday, October 24th, 2020. More information about that event is available at phoenixchoir.com/concerts

*This rehearsal and workshop is open to anyone, regardless of musical ability, however singers who would like to submit a video for inclusion in the final virtual choir project must have basic singing ability.

Organizer

Phoenix Chamber Choir

Founded in 1983, Phoenix Chamber Choir is entering its 38th season as one of Canada’s finest vocal ensembles, renowned for diverse and eclectic programming from the Renaissance to the contemporary, commissions from Canadian and International composers, and North American premieres of significant new works.

With its long-standing history of success in national and international choral competitions, the talent and training of its members, and its commitment to creating relevant, meaningful, and cutting edge experiences, Phoenix Chamber Choir is enriching and extending its earned reputation as an elite-level ensemble. The choir strives to connect deeply with its audiences by sharing world-class music, and to provide invaluable musical opportunities for choral artists and composers.

For more than three decades, the Phoenix Chamber Choir has played an integral part in developing young musicians, composers and conductors in Vancouver, and has helped to establish Canada’s West Coast as one of the most important centres of choral music in the world. Over the last 6 months, Phoenix has become a standout in the Vancouver choral community, leading the way with the success of their virtual choir videos, their commitment to social justice, their outreach programs and training videos and workshops, and their determination to create a safe and successful 2020/2021 concert season.
