About

Friday, September 27, 2019 - 10am-12pm

Location: Hornepayne Culture Days Hub - "The Stage" see site map in photos!

Ages/Experience: Artists, painters, dancers, singers, writers and dreamers of all ages and experience levels. You won't have to perform. Just bring your imagination.

During this two hour program, established and emerging and aspiring artists of all ages, experience and bravery levels are invited to come see whether we can invent the story and music for a brand-new (very short) musical from nothing!

Even if you don’t feel like you want to sing or perform in front of people, this is a chance to explore the storytelling, music writing and design skills that go into creating a piece of music theatre. Later in the day participants are welcome to come back for part two, if they want to try seeing what it's like to make it come alive onstage, or building the visual and physical world where the story exists....

All of Hornepayne’s Culture Days events and workshops are free to participate.

The Hornepayne Community Arts Project be collecting donations through our pay-what you can collection boxes around the hub, or at the library. This is to help cover the cost of train tickets for visiting artists, supplies and materials for community projects, and to help to fund a new initiative for Hornepayne’s young artists, to be announced at our Music Monday celebration in May, 2020.

Presented by: Hornepayne Public Library in collaboration with the Hornepayne Community Arts Project

The artists and community partners gratefully acknowledge the support of the Ontario Arts Council's Community and Artist Collaboration program. By supporting reasonable fees for working artists, they have enabled us to continue exploring the relationship between touring and transient artists and those living resilient, resourceful and creative lives in the places between the "major" destinations.

We also gratefully acknowledge the generous support of the Township of Hornepayne, and D&J Apartments and the residents of Hornepayne, Ontario, for making sure that our visiting artists have a home, 1000 km from home.
