  • RACHEL ALBANO Albano Family 2019 Rachel Albano is an abstract painter from Elora, Ontario. Her painting is an intuitive process; multiple layers are covered and revealed until they culminate in a cohesive piece that testifies to this process. Her work has a sense of the artist’s presence through gestural marks and sometimes a heavy scraping back of layers. The use of palette knives creates a sense of rawness and authenticity- rough, textural marks combined with watery, ephemeral drips that invite an element of chance into the work. Albano’s aim is to create paintings that facilitate a sense of inspiration to her viewers. Her work is vibrant, energetic and compelling. Rachel was educated at the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Studio Art and Art History.
  • TIM & KATHERINE MCMANUS Blown Away offers a wide selection of glass art in our showroom. The pieces are all created and signed by Tim and Katherine themselves. We are open all year round and have great seasonal gifts including garden art and wedding gifts. You’ll enjoy a viewing of us at work in the Hotshop if you come while we’re blowing.

About

EVER WONDER WHAT AN ARTIST’S STUDIO REALLY LOOKS LIKE?

Here’s your chance to get a look behind the scenes. Take a self-guided tour and meet artists where they live and work. Many artists and craftspeople will open their studios for two consecutive fall weekends.

The Studio Tour is completely free of charge. You’ll get a chance to meet directly with the artists, and often see work not shown in gallery settings. You’ll visit the working spaces of both established and emerging artists, from basements to self contained studios.

WE ARE MANDATING MASKS AND 6′ DISTANCING RULES FOR VISITORS TO ALL STUDIOS DURING THE TOUR. THERE MAY BE ADDED REQUIREMENTS FOR SOME STUDIOS. WE ASK THAT ALL VISITORS RESPECT THESE REQUESTS.

Elora Fergus Studio Tour

. The Elora Fergus Studio Tour has been in existence since 1986. We have only had to cancel one year and that was 2020 because of Covid.

This year we are proceeding with precautions to ensure the safety of our participants. There are usually anywhere from 32 to 40 artists participating. This year we have 32 participants participating for two weekends, September 25-26 and October 2-3. This is a self guided tour allowing visitors to visit the private studios of our artists and artisans to see works in progress and learn about the artists' speciality. Of course we hope to sell pieces as well.

The quality of this original artwork is outstanding, Our Studio Tour boasts a wide variety of media: paintings in oil, acrylics, watercolour, pastels and encaustic; works created with warm glass, hot glass,or stained mosaic pieces; mixed-media and collages; fibre and weaving; ceramics thrown or sculpted; wood sculpted, bonded with metal and resin,or worked in fine marquetry; and fine jewelry.

Brochures are available at the Elora Centre for the Arts, an excellent place to begin your tour. A Gallery Show exhibiting a representative piece of work from each studio tour member opens on September 16th at the Centre and will be on display until October 3rd. Our website has information on all participating artists and maps at www.elorafergusstudiotour.com. Please observe our restrictions because of Covid. Each studio and our website have posted the basic requirements to keep our artists safe.
