About
As part of Culture Days 2021, we would like to introduce you to the Oakville Fibre Artists, a core group who meet at Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre in Oakville, Ontario.
This power point slide show illustrates some of the work created by the Oakville Fibre Artists that Re:Imagine textiles and fibre art. Textiles and the use of fibre have often been associated with traditional approaches such as quilting and embroidery. This presentation demonstrates how today's artists have taken these techniques to the next level as an artistic medium.

The Oakville Fibre Artists (OFA) are:
A creative and collaborative group of 30 artists.
Many were influenced by role models as children or by organizations such as the Guides or Brownies.
Some pursued formal art education and training, while others learned through workshops and continued ‘traditional’ textile based practice.
This blend of experience has created a melting pot of dynamic ideas and methods: such as fabric dyeing, layering textiles, slow stitch, and various ways of manipulating the textile surface.
