Brock Township Public Library
Brock Township Public Library serves the communities of Beaverton, Cannington, and Sunderland, each with a branch housed in a building rich in history and community pride.
The Beaverton Branch, a Carnegie Library opened in 1913, is one of the few remaining Carnegie buildings in Ontario still used for its original purpose. The Timothy Findley Memorial Branch in Cannington operates from the historic 1887 Town Hall, once home to council chambers, a fire hall, and the town’s first moving-picture show. The Sunderland Branch began in a small upstairs room over a century ago and has grown through the efforts of local volunteers and community groups into today’s welcoming space within the Sunderland Public School.
Year-round, we provide access to books, technology, programs, and cultural activities for all ages, fostering literacy, lifelong learning, and community connection. For Culture Days, our Amazing Race will invite participants to discover the fascinating stories behind these historic library buildings, celebrating not just their architecture, but the generations of people who have gathered, learned, and built community within their walls.
