About

The digital art demonstration is a step-by-step instruction of using recycled materials readily available at home, such as expired cosmetics, organic materials, and coffee grounds among others. These household art supplies are items that are no longer in use, and if thrown away can end up in landfills polluting the land and water. Therefore, this activity becomes a memorable and unique experience that allows individuals to spark their creativity with things already found at home. The takeaway from this event would be that individuals, who enjoy art but find art supplies expensive, could explore other options. One of the prime aims of this activity is to create something aesthetic and protect the environment. View the final artwork at the end.

Organizer

Dr. NAFISA SAYED-MOTIWALA

I am a mixed media visual artist, author, art historian and storyteller based in Brampton. I am also an ambassador of Artientifique (blending aesthetics with environmental protection) initiated by National Geographic Instructor Aisha Mir. Apart from this, I have a doctorate in History of Art with 2 books to my credit. My artworks have been exhibited locally and internationally in countries such as France, Brussels, Ukraine, USA, UAE, India, Lebanon, Singapore among others.

As an artist, I dream to make a difference with my art, not simply the aesthetics but unfold an untold story that inspires. “Everything is captured in the spontaneous dance and movement of the brush as it foretells a story. The story of the artist and the world around her.”

Art has a purpose that has the power to reach out and create awareness on social and environmental issues. To pursue the ongoing quest to save our environment, we collect expired cosmetics and other recyclable materials to create sustainable art. In addition to this, we have workshops organized for artists and art lovers to explore their creativity at its best around the year.
