Directions: In partnership with the Downtown Business Association (BIA), the City created a space where the public can enjoy holidays, long weekends and everyday living: Meridian Place & Memorial Square. Memorial Square is located at the southeastern end of the Nine Mile Portage and was the site of the Barrie Railroad Station and the Post Office. Memorial Square accommodates ceremonial procedures. The cenotaph is the central focus of the square. Meridian Place & Memorial Square together offer gathering spaces in Barrie accommodating large events, showcasing local talent and connecting the downtown to the beautiful waterfront. https://www.barrie.ca/community-recreation-environment/facilities-venues/meridian-place-memorial-square.

An annual national celebration of arts, culture, and creativity!

Join local authors at the City of Barrie Culture Days celebration live at Memorial Square and Meridian Place. Browse the author displays, meet regional writers as they share excerpts from their work in our Storytelling Tent.

Storytelling Tent Schedule:

10am-12pm - Kids storytimes with 6 local authors in the BPL tent on our floor cushions & magical reading carpet

12-1pm - BREAK. Enjoy one of our 'literary' activity stations. Play giant scrabble or make a Culture Days button

1-4pm - Find your next great read as local authors sell their books, run a storytelling circle and read excerpts from their books
